Stephen King's

MISERY

September 29 - October 28, 2023

The Beaverton Masonic Lodge

4690 SW Watson, Beaverton

This frightening story, based on the novel by Stephen King, was performed in an immersive fashion that placed the audience squarely inside the cabin of Annie Wilkes, merely inches from the performing actors.

This show featured ETP's Artistic Director Alisa Stewart in her ETP acting debut as the iconic villain Annie Wilkes. Paul Sheldon was played by Murren Kennedy, and Brian Tyson played the kindly Sheriff Buster.

Based on the book by Stephen King, a successful novelist is rescued from a car accident by his #1 fan, Annie Wilkes. When she brings him to her remote cabin to recover, Annie's obsession with the author takes a dark turn after discovering he kills off her favorite character from his novels, Misery Chastain. She holds him captive and forces him to rewrite the finale to his book series.

Directed by Jason Weed, the creative team for “Misery” includes Assistant Director Ashley Pio, Set Designer Kyra Sanford, Lighting Designer Lily Wakefield, Stage Manager Amanda Burget, Costume Designer Ashley Pio & Jason Weed, Fight Director and Properties Master Sam Dinkowitz. Production assistants were Michelle Larson and Lacey Stewart.

MISERY was recommended for ages 13 and up due to profanity, violence, and subject matter. Show run time was approximately two hours including a 15 minute intermission.
